This hugely popular workshop has been created by popular demand – so, here it is – you will make four unique coasters designed for your home or to give as a gift!
It’s easy and fun! Create mini works of art for everyone to enjoy, while you learn a wonderful new skill. Your coasters can look similar or all look different – it’s up to you – and match your decor or just your favourite colours. You’re in charge: it’s your time off, it’s your design, we just help. Make wonderful, personal gift for someone you treasure, or simply create a treasure to enjoy yourself.
During this workshop you will learn:
- the basic, correct skills required to use glass as an artistic medium
- the fundamentals of glass cutting
- all about art glass and how it performs in the kiln
- your introduction to the endless joy of glass fusing
What you get:
- Everything you need to make your four beautiful coasters,
- all materials used, including your choice from at least a dozen different glass colours
- use of studio tools
- kiln firing of your coasters after you leave (up to 2 kiln firings as required)
- Forget about the real world for a couple of hours
- Oh, and listen to great music!
You’ll be surprised at how clever you are at making something wonderful! About 14 days after your workshop, your coasters will be wrapped up and ready for you to collect from our studio in Swan Street, Richmond. Progress pictures will be taken and emailed to you so you know what’s happening step by step.
During the workshop I’ll take photographs of you for my website and for my social media, if you don’t want this to happen just let me know.
No previous experience required!
Please wear clothes that includes some kind of sleeve, like a t-shirt (not a tank top). Please wear closed toe shoes. (No thongs, no sandals that expose your toes.) You need to be able to stand securely on both feet and climb one flight of stairs to the workshop.
Once the class is over and the clean up is done, all you need to do is wait for an email from me showing the progress of your 4 fabulous coasters, or landing pads for your favourite cocktail. Then I’ll let you know when they are ready to be picked up from here. This usually happens within 2 weeks of the workshop.
Your art glass creations will be kept here at my studio for 3 months after the workshop, they’ll be donated to charity after that time.
If you’d like to bring alcoholic or other refreshments or nibbles to this workshop – that’ll be fine, assuming you are over 18 years of age.
For the moment only with people who are fully vaccinated can attend my classes. (I have 2 family members who are in the “at risk” category) so please be aware of this before you book. I am fully vaccinated as of April 2022. We adhere to the Covid19 rules of the day. If you have been unwell, please just let me know and we’ll add a new date for your as soon as you are well again.
If you’d like to organize a workshop with your friends here at Swan Street Studios, please feel free to get in touch, it’ll be easy and fun to arrange this with you. It’s a great team building exercise and a fabulous way to catch up with family and friends. Some workshops can be run “off-site” as well.
