duration: 3 hours
Make a Giant Fruit Platter – Level 2 – to amaze and delight your friends and family. You’ll need to have completed a Level 1 workshop first and feel comfortable making long cuts in our art glass.
The 3 hours of this advanced workshop gives you time to brush up on your cutting skills and make your own giant centrepiece. It’ll measure 33cms x 44cms and will look stunning on your dining table or sideboard.
Or maybe it will be a special gift for that important birthday or wedding? What could be more wonderful than giving a marvelous piece of your own hand-crafted glass art to be treasured forever?
Our aim is that you’ll build your base piece in the first 3 hour session and then we’ll cold work your platter and then slumped into the “Jackson-Shaped” mold. You can do the cold working if you wish, but you need to be available at a time to suit us.
Choose from the large selection of transparent and opaque colours, stringers, noodles, frit, part-sheets and rods that are in my studio at the time of your workshop! Note: please visit the studio before your workshop if you have a particular glass or colours that you want to use.
Feel free to BYO drinks & nibbles if you like .
Our new studio at 550 Swan Street is an extremely creative, fun, safe, friendly and stimulating environment. As our workshop is on Level 1 you’ll need to be able to walk up our staircase.
Everything you need is included in the cost of this workshop including all of your glass, your firings, use of studio equipment including safety equipment, and the kiln paper you’ll need.
This class is only for 2 people at a time so you have room to move around the studio and to make your giant fruit platter with ease.
During the workshop I’ll take photographs of you for my website and for my social media, if you don’t want this to happen just let me know.
No previous experience required! Please wear clothes that includes some kind of sleeve, like a t-shirt (not a tank top). Please wear closed toe shoes. (No thongs, no sandals that expose your toes.) You need to be able to stand securely on both feet and climb one flight of stairs to the workshop.
Once the class is over and the clean up is done, all you need to do is wait for an email from me showing the progress of your fruit platter and I’ll let you know when its ready to be picked up. This usually happens within 2 weeks of the workshop.
