level 2

cost: $245
prerequisite:    Finish our Plate Making Level 1.
you get:  To make a baguette platter in our famous French Meadow design
duration: 3 hours

Please note that you can come back again and again as many times as you like to do this workshop.

Experience the thrill of making this unique and hugely popular “French Meadow” design, perfect to serve a french baguette – or whatever you like!  This exciting 3 hours gives you time to brush up your glass cutting skills and learn to make your own long long channel platter.

Your platter will be 15cms x 50cms, or you can create other sizes if you prefer, (see below), but you’ll need to pay me directly if you’d like to create an alternate size.

Please let me know at least 7 days before the Workshop which alternative you want, as I need to make sure I have the correct size kiln shelf and 5mm thick base glass in stock for you.

See below some other sizes you can consider for your “French Meadow” design, if not for this workshop maybe for a future workshop.

These prices are correct as at Dec 2022 and are only for the French Meadow designs and don’t apply to any other workshops as this is the only workshop in which we use 5mm specialty clear glass.  You can make these alternative items for the following prices:

  • 4 x French Meadow Coasters – $120
  • 20cm x 20cm plate – $120.00
  • 20cm x 35cm platter – $199.00
  • 25cm x 25cm bowl – $199.00
  • Giant Fruit Platter 33cms x 44cms $300.00

Please let me know when you book in which item you’d like to create if it isn’t the baguette platter, so that I can have the base glass and the correct size kiln shelf available for you.  I can also devise a time and price for you to make multiple items if you would like to, eg a plate, a platter and a bowl. Your own personalized “French Meadow” collection. Just message me to discuss.

You get to choose from the large selection of transparent and opaque colours, stringers, noodles, frit and part-sheets that I have at the studio at the time of your workshop! If you want to use a particular colour visit the studio to check I have it in stock.

Please wear clothes that includes some kind of sleeve (not a tank top).  Please wear closed toe shoes. (No thongs, no sandals that expose your toes.)   You need to be able to stand securely on both feet and climb one flight of stairs to the workshop.

Once the class is over and the clean up is done, all you need to do is wait for an email from me showing the progress of your French Meadow masterpiece and I’ll let you know when it is all framed and ready to be picked up. This usually happens within 2 weeks of the workshop.  By the way, your creations will be kept here at the studio for 3 months after the workshop, they’ll be donated to charity after that time.

If you’d like to bring alcoholic or other refreshments or nibbles to this workshop – that’ll be fine, assuming you are over 18 years of age.

For the moment only with people who are fully vaccinated can attend my classes. We adhere to the Covid19 rules of the day.  If you have been unwell, stay away and we’ll reschedule your class at zero cost until you are well enough to come and have some fun!

My studio is a part of the Swan Street Artist Studio complex. We are on Level 1 of 550 Swan Street Richmond. Its a contemporary art space run by Professional Artists, you’ll love having your workshop in this unique first floor warehouse.

Car parks are surprisingly easy to find around our studios. We are on the intersection of Swan Street, and Bendigo Street, Richmond.  You can often park right outside – fortunately we are at the quiet end of Swan Street.  Remember there are Clearways in Swan Street, Richmond and the parking here is 2 hours so we’ll set our alarms and make sure we all move our cars at the 2 hour point.

According to Google, there’s a 6-minute walk from Burnley Railway Station to 550 Swan Street (its 450 metres away).  Tram 70 stops a few metres from our front door.

If you’d like to organize a workshop with more friends here at Swan Street Studios, please feel free to get in touch, it’ll be easy and fun to arrange this with you. It’s a great way to catch up with family and friends.  We can do this as a Private Workshop for beginners as well, but I need to know this in advance.

Please remember that you can come to this workshop as often as you like.  The record number of times someone has made a French Meadow Platter is currently at 6 times.  Each platter has been a different design in different colours for different friends and family members.  Love this idea!

If you don’t see a time and date that suits you here please email me and we will add a new date just for you.

You’ll love this workshop!   jenie
