Kimberley came to my studio on the weekend, and did my Alcohol ink workshop.
She’s more than half way through DRY JULY and said this would be the perfect way for me to catch up with my friends – provided she could have a glass of vino – when DRY JULY has finished, of course! She thought Sip and Ink would be the perfect way to enjoy a regular a catch-up night with her girlfriends. So here we are! The antidote to DRY JULY! (Dry July is a great idea, of course, and I’m truly delighted to say that she’s made more than double her initial donation to DRY JULY. If you aren’t sure what DRY JULY is all about click here.)
Fun new event
Our new “party event” Sip and Ink will happen on a bunch of Thursday and Friday nights until the end of October, when we move on to our ridiculously fun Festive Christmas parties when we have Christmas shortbreads and spicy tea! (Of course if the demand continues – we’ll run Sip and Ink all year round. )
Got a birthday to celebrate? Well, this is a great creative way to enjoy it. Come and play with alcohol inks then head off to the local pub or restaurant dinner.
And if you want sparklers, we always have then on hand, ready for celebrating!
Jut let me know what music you’d like to listen to – we’ll arrange it.
Bring your own alcoholic beverages, and we’ll have lashings of lime and soda available for you to enjoy, too.
So OK: here’s everything you need to know about these new parties. “Think outside the box for your next girls’ night out or your next special celebration!” (Er … men welcome too!)
Just have a go -It’s easy!
We just love the idea of bringing people together and encouraging them to be creative, and our exciting new “Sip and Ink” events are not about being ‘creative’, but more about ‘having a go’ and trying something new, abstract and random. And you get real art at the end of it!
Each one of you will enjoy the joy of creating your own alcohol ink masterpiece – we can pretty much guarantee you’ll love what you make! Absolutely no experience is necessary – just choose your favourite colours, share a drink or two with your best mates, enjoy some great music and above all: have fun!
During your 90 minutes, you’ll learn how to use alcohol ink and you’ll create a gorgeous piece of alcohol ink art for your home, or as a gift for a loved one.
Your favourite alcohol ink artwork will then be professionally sealed and framed and ready for you to collect about a week after your event.
Your framed art piece is something to show off at your next party or to visitors! Or it makes a great gift for a loved one.
Absolute beginners welcome!
First up, I’ll take you through the basics of using alcohol inks. You get step-by-step guidance in my creative and safe studio in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. My studio is in an old warehouse filled with fascinating working artists. You’ll just love being here.
All you need to do is rock up – you’ll get all the art materials you’ll need, everything will be ready for you to use: tools, inks and everything you need including the special “yupo” paper.
Bring your own favourite alcoholic or soft drinks and nibbles. We’ll have all the glasses you need and lashings of lime and soda too. Then just kick back and enjoy the fun and excitement with your friends! Attending our “Sip and Ink” evening is a sure-fire way to make your next night out an unforgettable experience.
Celebrate …. Anything! Bachelorette parties, birthday parties, a unique date night, divorce parties, corporate gatherings, or any other type of get together and catch up.
When your event has finished, just decide which of your favourite painting is going to be framed, and then you’ll go off to one of the many Richmond restaurants or pubs nearby to complete your evening. *Your favourite painting will be framed and ready for you to collect the following week.
The not so small print
Please note: the studio is up a set of old-fashioned staircase so this isn’t suitable for you if you can’t make it up the stairs. Also, there’s some fumes from Alcohol Inks so please note that this is NOT suitable for anyone who is pregnant.
Everyone must be 18 years of age – did we say ‘and not pregnant’? – to attend.
- No experience required!
- All materials are provided.
- Please wear closed-in shoes.
- BYO drinks and nibbles.
- 90 minutes
Simply book the date that works for you and your friends. Minimum of three persons, maximum of eight. What fun! If you need more information about the dates or if you want to enquire about a special date for yourself, please email me here: [email protected]
You’ll be surprised at how clever you are at making something wonderful! During the workshop I’ll take photographs of you for my website and for my social media. (If you don’t want this to happen just let me know.)
THE SMALL PRINT
Please wear closed toe shoes. (No thongs, no sandals that expose your toes.) You need to be able to stand securely on both feet and climb one steep flight of stairs to the workshop. No alcohol is sold, bring your own. YOU are responsible for how much you and your friends drink and any consequences.
And once again, sorry, but no pregnant attendees!
WHEN DO I GET MY MASTERPIECE BACK?
All you need to do is wait for an email from me letting you know that your masterpiece has been sealed and framed and is ready to be picked up. This usually happens within 3-5 days of the workshop. By the way, because we have a small space, your creation will be kept at the studio for 21 days after the workshop. After then, it will be donated to charity.
WHAT DO I BRING?
You! Please also bring your favourite alcoholic refreshments and your nibbles you want to enjoy during this event. You also guarantee to us that you and any other attendees are over 18 years of age.
COVID AND INFLUENZA NOTICE
If you are or have recently been unwell, let me know and we’ll reschedule your class at zero cost until you are well enough to come and have some fun!
LOCATION
My studio is a part of the Swan Street Artist Studio complex. We are on Level 1 of 550 Swan Street Richmond. You’ll love having your workshop in this unique first floor warehouse.
Parking is surprisingly easy to find around our studios on the intersection of Swan Street, and Bendigo Street, Richmond. You can often park right outside – fortunately we are at the quiet end of Swan Street. Remember there are Clearways in Swan Street, Richmond and the parking here is 2 hours so we’ll set our alarms and make sure we all move our cars at the two hour point.
DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE UNLESS YOU ARE THE ‘DESIGNATED DRIVER’ AND YOU REMAIN UNDER THE LEGAL BLOOD ALCOHOL LEVEL.
Better still, let the train or tram take the strain.
According to Google, there’s a 6-minute walk from Burnley Railway Station to 550 Swan Street (its 450 metres away). Tram 70 stops a few metres from our front door.
If you don’t see a time and date that suits you here, please email me at [email protected] and we will add a new date just for you and your friends!
So there you have it – our brand new Alcohol Ink party. Come and join the fun: bring your friends and enjoy doing something totally different together.
If you need more information about the dates or to enquire about a special date for yourself, please email me here. [email protected]
