Its fun making up new rocks! These are so much fun to make. I wonder if one day I’ll run a workshop where you can make your own rocks or geodes. But let me go back a bit. First of all I started making these hearts, red hearts, toffee coloured hearts, monochrome hearts …
… green hearts, multicoloured hearts – I made lots of hearts and then I thought I could use the same technique to create an amethyst in glass.
That’s where the idea came from …
Here is the first one I made using lavender, purple, grape and a touch of ruby glass pieces.
My husband loves this piece…he doesn’t want me to sell this one!
The second one I made using cobalt, turquoise and loads of clear glass – here it is in the kiln …
… and after the first firing … it was fired 3 times in total …
A close up of the cobalt geode.
And here’s the top of it: I think it looks a bit like the top of a wave, what do you think?
The cobalt geode was sold recently at the Bolin Bolin Gallery Exhibition.
The next one I made is ruby and a touch of cobalt, (it’s in Hong Kong now) with new owners who have backlit it in their foyer.
I do hope you like my adventures into Geology. Do you have some suggestions of what colour combinations I should do next? I really look forward to hearing your suggestions!
